2-3-22   THOUGHTS

David was made a powerful King by God, and then taught most painfully to weep!  Scripture says David was a man after God’s own heart.  A powerful warrior with so much blood on his hands that God wouldn’t let David build His House.  Thanks be to God that He had this man of might and riches and power, lowered to the lowest parts of manhood, and then caused his sweet heart to write about it all!  I have needed David’s words for many many years now. The Psalms have provided food for my heart and mind, and comfort for my soul.   The nature of life seems to renew my need for them continually.

Ps 30:1-12    « A Psalm; a Song at the Dedication of the House. A Psalm of David. »
I will extol You, O LORD, for You have lifted me up, And have not let my enemies rejoice over me.  2  O LORD my God, I cried to You for help, and You healed me.  3  O LORD, You have brought up my soul from Sheol; You have kept me alive, that I would not go down to the pit. 4  Sing praise to the LORD, you His godly ones, And give thanks to His holy name. 5  For His anger is but for a moment, His favor is for a lifetime;
Weeping may last for the night, But a shout of joy comes in the morning. 6  Now as for me, I said in my prosperity, "I will never be moved."  7  O LORD, by Your favor You have made my mountain to stand strong; You hid Your face, I was dismayed.   [Message Bible on verses 6- 7   When things were going great I crowed, "I’ve got it made. 7   I’m GOD’s favorite.   He made me king of the mountain." Then you looked the other way and I fell to pieces.]       8  To You, O LORD, I called, And to the Lord I made supplication: 9  "What profit is there in my blood, if I go down to the pit? Will the dust praise You? Will it declare Your faithfulness?  10  "Hear, O LORD, and be gracious to me; O LORD, be my helper." 11  You have turned for me my mourning into dancing; You have loosed my sackcloth and girded me with gladness,  12  That my soul may sing praise to You and not be silent. O LORD my God, I will give thanks to You forever.

2Cor 4:13-18    But having the same spirit of faith, according to what is written, "I BELIEVED, THEREFORE I SPOKE,"   we also believe, therefore we also speak,  14  knowing that He who raised the Lord Jesus will raise us also with Jesus and will present us with you. 15  For all things are for your sakes, so that the grace which is spreading to more and more people may cause the giving of thanks to abound to the glory of God. 16  Therefore we do not lose heart, but though our outer man is decaying, yet our inner man is being renewed day by day. 17  For momentary, light affliction is producing for us an eternal weight of glory far beyond all comparison, 18  while we look not at the things which are seen, but at the things which are not seen; for the things which are seen are temporal, but the things which are not seen are eternal.

My Prayer:
Thank you O Lord for feeding our souls.  Your Word is our necessary food.  Please renew our souls day by day with the hope of glory far beyond all comparison.  In Jesus name      Amen
